  • Who We Are
  • Where we are:
  • When & whom we serve:
  • What we provide:
We are volunteers with a mission to serve all of our neighbors struggling to feed themselves and their families.
We are located in Salem Lutheran Church at 1145 DeKalb Avenue in Sycamore, IL – across the street from Culver’s Restaurant. Drive around the building; our entrance is in the back parking lot by the playground. Click here for directions.

We are open to any DeKalb resident with a simple request for help and 2 forms of identification: A picture ID and a piece of mail (e.g. utility bill, medical card, lease agreement) with the current, legal DeKalb County address.

Salem Food Pantry asks nothing of its clients, and gratefully serves any and all of its neighbors struggling with food insecurity regardless of race, religion, disability, or any other personal or demographic characteristic or status.

People are invited to visit us once each month and will find a variety of food, personal care, and other items.

Our first priority is to provide both perishable and non-perishable food across all meals and food groups.

As a member of the Northern IL Food Bank we have a special relationship with Jewel Osco (Peace Road, Sycamore) to regularly provide a wide variety of perishable food including bread and pastry items, dairy, produce including both fruit and vegetables, yogurt and other dairy items, as well as frozen meat. Visitors will also find a selection of non-perishable selections including items for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and sometimes baking and snacks.

Because government assistance is limited to food, and because personal care is vital to individual dignity, we strive to offer a small selection of paper and personal care items as donations are received and funds allow.

To care for the whole family, we strive to offer special items as available such as children’s books, small toys & games, and social service referral information.
